US to impart forest fire management training in Nepal

The Himalayan (Nepal): The United States is all set to impart a weeklong ‘train-the-trainers’ forest fire management course in Hetauda from December 5 to 9. According to the US embassy in Nepal, US Forest Service has shouldered the training responsibility at the behest of the Government of Nepal.

It is expected that about 25 participants from district forest offices, the Nepali Army and other relevant agencies will attend the programme. The training is part of the USFS’ Eastern Himalayas Forests and Climate Change Programme and was developed in consultation with Nepal’s Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation, said the embassy in a statement.

Visiting US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Alyssa Ayres, will launch the training programme in Hetauda…
