That global threat

Reporter Jack Coraggio of the Litchfield County Times interviewed me yesterday, and the article is already out:...Microcosmically, these represent the costly consequences of a rapidly changing climate, a scientific phenomenon the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change [IPCC] refers to as “unequivocal.” Amid the overwhelming, sometimes doomsday-like predictions that face us, we can take some comfort knowing that forward-thinking solutions for the management and mitigation of the impact exist.

West Cornwall resident Brian Thomas, an independent sustainability consultant, a new kind of green job, has ideas that are in demand. Already, the Brown University graduate has developed green-themed projects for clients that include Merrill Lynch and the cities of Chicago and New York.

“Science tells us things we don’t always want to hear, and it’s a challenge to know what to do with it,” said Mr. Thomas, currently a member of the New York City Panel on Climate Change, EnviroComm, the Association of Green Technology Auditors and the West Cornwall Conservation Commission. “People don’t like to deal with risk, but risk is at the heart of all this.”...
