Water projects in Nigeria

Anayo Okolie in AllAfrica.com via This Day (Nigeria): Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola Saturday disclosed that his administration has provided 445 types of water projects in the rural and semi urban areas in the last six years to ensure that residents of Lagos State have access to potable water.

Fashola noted this during the commissioning of a micro water scheme at Igborosun in Badagry Local Government Area. He also stated that his administration is passionate about the provision of potable water for the people especially the rural dweller.

Fashola, who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Adetokunbo Abiru said that his admistration has also approved the construction of additional 28 water projects this year to be provided in the rural & semi urban areas of the state to complement the existing ones.

These water projects, according to Fashola, consist of 10 solar-powered modified Type A water project, 13 modified Type A water projects and 5 Type A water projects.

He promised that the existing water project will be continuously maintained and improved on upon by the government, adding that his administration will continue to do more water projects until every nook and crannies of the state have access to potable water....
